The CINARS lab carries out advanced studies in Artificial Intelligence, focusing on collective intelligence, swarm intelligence and multi-agent systems, and their applications in autonomous robotics and socio-technical systems. The overarching aim is to understand how cognitive processes like attention, decision making or categorisation emerge in a system from the numerous interactions among the system components, possibly organised in complex network topologies. The insights gathered in this endeavour are exploited to synthesise cyber-physical systems tailored to different application domains, such as precision agriculture, environmental monitoring, sustainable transport systems, space applications, decision support systems and educational technologies.
